It Just Takes One

“There is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10
Just one salvation is all it take to bring joy to heaven.
Some think of people like pennies–there are lots of them and they aren’t worth much individually. God thinks of them like diamonds–each is unique and of tremendous value.
Our focal verse nestles in the middle of three parables told by Jesus The first tells of a lost sheep, the second of a lost coin, and the third of a lost son. Each tells the same message. There is great rejoicing over

the return of the lost.
While I don’t fully understand why, the Lord loves to see even one lost man or woman or boy or girl repent of their sins and trust Him as Savior. He values them so much that He rejoices over their redemption. He is like a shepherd diligently seeking a lost sheep and rejoicing over its discovery. He is like a widow desperately sweeping for a lost coin and overjoyed at its uncovering. He is like a father looking to the horizon for a prodigal son and throwing a great celebration at his return.
God rejoices over the repentance of just one. That is the idea of our focal verse. God rejoices in the presence of the angels in heaven that one is saved. That is how valuable just one life is to the Lord. That is how valuable one life should be to us.
